Carbohydrates 

    Carbohydrates are considered the best nutrients that give the body energy and activity, if they are consumed in healthy and appropriate proportions, with the selection of beneficial varieties of carbohydrates and avoid harmful items from them, and the importance of the body obtaining carbohydrates on a daily basis is shown in breaking it into it and converting it into simple sugars that are easy to digest, and from The most important of these is glucose sugar, "blood sugar", as this sugar helps in giving the body the energy necessary to do its work. As for the excess of the body's need for it, it is preserved in the liver or muscle in order to benefit from it when the energy level in the body decreases. 

Types of carbohydrates 

The types of carbohydrates are classified according to the composition of the sugars they contain. 

  • Simple carbohydrates, which are the different types of sugars found in fruits, vegetables, yogurt and its products. 
  • Complex carbohydrates, often found in whole grains and their products, and various types of legumes, vegetables and fruits of starchy texture.

- Natural food As mentioned above, carbohydrates are found in a large portion of fruits, vegetables, legumes and cereals, but their presence in these foods varies from one variety to another, and among the most foods that contain carbohydrates: 

  • Chickpeas, as a cup of chickpeas contains approximately 35 grams of carbohydrates, in addition to 6 grams of sugars, and about 210 calories, which makes it a healthy source of carbohydrates. 
  • Apples, as a whole grain of apples contains about 27 grams of carbohydrates, in addition to 11 grams of fiber, and one and a half grams of fat. 
  • Regular and sweet potatoes, as regular potatoes contain high amounts of carbohydrates, but sweet potatoes are an important and richest source of carbohydrates, as the average seed contains 24 grams of carbohydrates, in addition to 105 calories, and an appropriate amount of vitamin A and potassium. 
  • Raisin, as a raisin full of raisins contains about 33 grams of carbohydrates, and a gram and a half of fiber, in addition to 123 calories. 
  • Whole wheat bread, as a small portion contains about 13.6 grams of carbohydrates. 
-Food products
